“Give A Child A Book”

Simply select, purchase, and donate!

Two titles have been selected–one early reader and one early chapter book–for this first-ever book drive.   Beaverdale Books will collect the donated books and distribute them equally to two local groups.  Both organizations use books and reading mentors to encourage children as they learn and improve their lives.

Good Night Little Bookstore, by Amy Cherrix, lovingly portrays the importance of our small businesses and bookstores in our lives at the same time it recognizes and reinforces the importance of books to all of us.

Planet Omar Accidental Trouble Magnet, by Zanib Miah, is an exciting middle-grade debut starring a Muslim boy with a huge imagination.

Beaverdale Books will donate one FREE book for every FIVE of the books sold.

Restoring Hope: The Honorable Colin J. Witt Memorial Foundation is about helping   youth in need understand their worth and value to our community and the world. The foundation is created in honor of Colin Witt, who as a juvenile judge made it his life’s work to help kids see their possibilities and how one mistake, or many, doesn’t have to define their future.
Everybody Wins! Iowa sponsors a Power Read program that matches volunteer reading mentors one-to-one with students.  Each week, the pairs read together and engage in    conversation.  Everybody Wins! Iowa complements the education students receive in the classroom by providing a safe, low-pressure setting to practice their reading skills and grow their confidence outside of the classroom. The program’s simple equation—one mentor, one child, one book at a time—produces powerful results.
