Elodie Opstad | This Is The Place: Glimpses of Warren County, Iowa
@Beaverdale Books
The history of Iowa’s Warren County follows the same path as most Midwest places, making the people the only difference between this homeplace and another. Shedding light on individuals lost to time but worthy of remembering, the short-essay glimpses were originally published as a monthly column for the Indianola Independent-Advocate. After years of research, discovery, and writing, they are now gathered together with Bolded Words ending one title beginning the next. Creating an “Unbroken line of Pondering,” the name of the original newspaper column, they leap and dance through time and topics. The fact history keeps repeating itself isn’t ignored.
Elodie Opstad lives in Indianola, county seat for Warren County, with her husband Sandy and their cat Ricky. After retiring from a career in healthcare, she took a writing class and needed a project. While her first work of historical fiction remains unpublished, there’s hope and wherewithal this publication provides the impetus to push forward and share an unbelievably great story.
Enjoying family, friends, community, gardening, and reading a variety of genres, Elodie and Sandy enjoy traveling, which they have been doing for over forty years. Doing their own research and believing the GPS is one of the most significant innovations in their lifetime, getting serendipitously lost remains a travel passion.
