Special Events Have Kept Us Busy!
The past month has seen us shuffling books to so many different locations, and we’d like to say thanks to all our customers who turned out for special events, including the 1700 people who heard author Jodi Picoult in conversation with Heather Gudenkauf. Your support enables us to continue to bring great authors to Des Moines and to partner with so many wonderful organizations, like the Harkin Institute, the Okoboji Writers Retreat, Izaak Walton League, and several libraries in central Iowa. We were thrilled to be the first stop on the Banned Wagon’s national tour and so were the hundreds of readers who received free copies of banned books. We’ve heard positive remarks from so many of our customers and from some new customers, too! Much appreciation for our speakers who shared their experiences. Likewise, many thanks everyone who assisted the Banned Wagon, powered by Penguin Random House and in partnership with Unite Against Book Bans (UUAB), Little Free Library, and First Books.
