Basi Affia/Aniekanabasi White, born as Aniekan, began writing in first grade. As he gained awareness of the travesties in the world around him, his writing began to speak to the issues he felt called to stand against. As a lover of science fiction and fantasy, he strived to speak on real life issues through the medium of storytelling while also giving his fellow humans a world to escape into. Marrying at 21 years old, he changed his name to its full Ibibio expression, Aniekanabasi, meaning “There’s nothing greater than the power of God.” In the following years, Basi and his wife had their two children; Azriel & Eliyahu. Understanding the responsibilities of being a husband and father, he served in the Army National Guard as a Religious Affairs Specialist with the hopes of being able to help soldiers cope with life trauma both from military experiences as well as issues every human faces. With his sights set on helping everyone he can, and reaching isolated souls through his writing, he gave himself the nom de plume “Basi Affia.”
