Everybody Wins! Iowa

Inspired by the generosity of a global movement, Beaverdale Books is proud to offer Giving Sundays during the month of November.

Beaverdale Books will donate 20% of the day’s sales to Everybody Wins! Iowa for its Power Read program that matches volunteer reading mentors one-to-one with students.  Each week, the pairs read together and engage in conversation. Programs can take place during breakfast, lunch, after-school, or evening dinner sessions primarily at elementary schools or through community organizations. Students are suggested for the program by teachers based on three areas: 1) students are struggling with reading, 2) students are English language learners, or 3) students might benefit from having a positive ongoing mentoring experience.

Everybody Wins! Iowa complements the education students receive in the classroom by providing a safe, low-pressure setting to practice their reading skills and grow their confidence outside of the classroom. The program’s simple equation—one mentor, one child, one book at a time—produces powerful results.
